Our Preschool program is built upon the transdisciplinary educational ecosystem Knotion®, Knowledge in Action, which promotes meaningful learning grounded in real-world experiences, integrating knowledge, awareness, and essential skills. From K1 to K3, our students engage in authentic projects called Challenges, which address global issues aligned with the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These challenges foster critical thinking, emotional expression, cultural awareness, and respect for diversity.
Each challenge begins with a provocative question that sparks curiosity, such as:
🌀 How can I enjoy different traditions?
🥦 What should I eat to grow strong and healthy?
Throughout the school day, children explore the world around them through multisensory experiences designed to develop cognitive, emotional, social, and physical skills, naturally integrating subjects like math, art, science, English, and social-emotional learning. The combination of physical books and digital tools allows for personalized learning, encourages autonomy, and enriches every learning moment. In this way, our students become curious, critical, empathetic, and joyful learners, ready to build a better future from their earliest years.

Students learn English naturally and progressively through the English Pathway of the Knotion® program. From K1 to K3, children are immersed in real-life contexts where they use the language through games, songs, challenges, daily routines, and multisensory activities. Knotion® uses a communicative and immersive methodology, focusing on functional language use in meaningful situations, which fosters both comprehension and spoken production from an early age. English is not taught as an isolated subject, but as an active communication tool within the classroom. Students begin to understand, use, and express themselves in English through gestures, actions, key words, and useful phrases—strengthening their vocabulary, pronunciation, and confidence to interact in both languages.
As part of the digital ecosystem of the Knotion® model, K3 students at IMI use Scholastic Literacy Pro, an interactive platform that supports the development of English reading comprehension (20 minutes per day) Through age-appropriate stories and leveled books, children listen, follow along, and become familiar with language structures, contextualized vocabulary, and authentic storytelling. This tool nurtures a love for reading, stimulates critical thinking, and exposes students to a wide variety of literary genres and accents—strengthening their bilingual proficiency from an early age.
In K3 (third year of preschool) use the Lectura Inteligente digital platform to strengthen foundational reading skills in Spanish. This engaging tool focuses on phonological awareness, early literacy, and language comprehension through fun, interactive activities. Children use the platform for approximately 20 minutes a day as part of their literacy routine. The platform provides adaptive exercises for students and a tracking system for teachers, allowing personalized learning and close monitoring of each child’s progress. It fosters a love for reading and ensures a strong transition to primary school.
From K1 to K3, preschool students in the Knotion® model strengthen their handwriting skills through a variety of meaningful experiences. Children work with physical books to identify and trace letters, connect them to sounds, and write familiar words such as their name and high-frequency vocabulary. These activities support not only graphic and phonetic recognition, but also reinforce the understanding that writing serves a real communicative purpose.
In addition, graphomotor strategies are implemented, including the tracing of straight lines, curves, circles, crosses, and other shapes necessary for accurate letter formation. These are complemented by the use of scissors, crayons, chalk, and manipulative materials that help enhance hand-eye coordination and precision in fine motor control.
The Knotion® model integrates both digital platforms and physical materials as part of a complete educational ecosystem. This combination allows students to reinforce their handwriting skills while also developing phonological awareness, fine motor coordination, and early reading comprehension. Working with printed books provides structure, sequence, and continuity in the learning process, while digital tools offer immediate feedback and personalized pacing—making the act of writing more meaningful, engaging, and well-rounded.

🎨 Art in preschool is much more than an activity — it is a creative and comprehensive learning experience.Through the transdisciplinary Knotion® model, art becomes a powerful tool for children to express what they feel, think, and observe in the world around them, nurturing their inner voice and their ability to communicate with purpose from an early age.
From K1 to K3, students develop their aesthetic sensitivity, imagination, and symbolic thinking through projects that combine painting, sculpture, dramatization, music, and visual appreciation. They learn to manipulate materials with their hands — from brushes, crayons, and sponges to modeling clay, cardboard, and recycled objects — strengthening fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
Throughout the process, they discover how to properly use a paintbrush, control pressure, mix primary colors, and create new tones. They identify emotions through color, strokes, and body movement. They also observe and reflect on the works of great masters such as Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, Picasso, and Yayoi Kusama, learning how art can express ideas, tell stories, and inspire social change.

Music class is much more than just singing—it is a rich learning experience where children develop artistic sensitivity, body coordination, rhythm, creativity, and emotional connection. Through the Knotion® program, students explore melodies, sounds, and instruments from around the world and learn to express themselves using their voice, movement, and percussion.
Each session invites children to move, invent songs, perform rhythms using clapping, instruments, or their own body, and share emotions through both classical and popular music. From creating sound sequences using musicograms to exploring cultural pieces such as Danish dances, Japanese folk music, or traditional Venezuelan songs, these classes foster aesthetic appreciation and respect for diversity.
In K3, students also begin to identify musical notes on the staff, practice rhythm through the "cups" technique, and bring stories and games to life through sound. As part of the IMI digital ecosystem, children use iPads and the GarageBand app to experiment with digital instruments and create rhythm patterns. This blend of physical and digital instruments enhances creativity, motor coordination, and technological fluency while enriching the overall musical experience.
